Paris 2024 Olympics: on your marks, get set! Get organized!

D-120 to the Paris Olympic Games. The festivities kick off on Friday, July 26, 2024 on the Seine. An opening ceremony that promises to be epic with 160 boats sailing a 6km(1) course.

‍

The Olympic Games will be a major factor in the daily lives of the French people, especially those living in the Paris region, throughout the summer. The disruption caused by the installations for the Games will be felt from June until the end of September. This event will keep the Paris Region busy for 3 months.

‍

According to tourist office projections, Paris and its metropolitan area will welcome some 15.3 million visitors(2). It's hard to imagine the scale of the coming event. Faced with this human tidal wave, the daily lives of workers in the Paris region will be greatly affected. If the Games are not to be an ordeal, companies have a duty to anticipate. On your marks, get set? Get organized!

Take the lead to avoid being beaten to the punch

‍

The bĂŞte noire of the Paris 2024 Olympics is transport. 500,000 extra passengers are expected to use public transport this summer(3).

‍

As Daniel Weizmann, President of Medef ĂŽle-de-France, points out: "We need to compensate for the influx of tourists by reducing the number of employees on the transport system by the same proportion." (4) Well, we agree, but it won't be an easy task!

‍

In addition to anticipating travel, the government's directives are clear and can be summed up in one word: telework, telework, telework. However, there is no obligation to do so: this mode of operation remains optional and free to each individual.

‍

‍

Towards Olympic confinement?

‍

No! We have better prospects for you. Now for the real question: where do we put the workers, during the 3 months when the ĂŽle-de-France will be full to bursting?

‍

We don't want the option of total telecommuting to bring back old, unpleasant feelings of confinement. What's more, it would be all too easy to fall into the binary trap of home or office. The options can be much broader and more flexible than this, thanks in particular to the introduction of a policy of working in coworking spaces.

‍

No need to go to the office during the Olympics

‍

Make it easier for your employees to get around and stay socially connected this summer, thanks to coworking spaces. Coworking is a shared workspace. Contrary to popular belief, coworking spaces are not just for start-ups. Companies such as BearingPoint and Schneider Electric have already adopted this strategy.

‍

Decentralize your workspaces and adopt a new workplace strategy during the Olympic Games - and even afterwards, who knows? Provide your employees with workspaces that meet their needs, close to home, thanks to coworking. Analyze the most strategic geographical areas, and you'll be able to reduce your employees' commuting time as much as possible.

‍

At Worklib, we are partners of over 5,000 coworking spaces in France. We can help you set up a temporary facility during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

‍

‍

Workspaces that foster innovation and productivity

‍

Flexibility isn't the only advantage of coworking. Its strength? Its ability to bring together all types of players: small, medium-sized and large companies come together to form a dynamic, innovative and stimulating ecosystem. 69% of coworking space users claim to have acquired new skills(5).

‍

These flexible workspaces meet every need:

  • concentrate in a quiet area ;
  • collaborate and develop your network in an open space ;
  • make appointments in the meeting room ;
  • make calls from a phone box ;
  • bonding in the cafeteria during the lunch break.

‍

‍

The ball is in your court: it's up to you to get it right!

‍

Go in search of real answers

‍

To prepare your organization for the 2024 Olympic Games, you first need to understand what's at stake. Evaluate the geographical area you need to cover to make life easier for your employees and keep them productive this summer. Carry out an audit and identify any problems you may face, so that the best solutions can emerge.

‍

Engaging in social dialogue now

‍

As with any organizational upheaval, the development of a specific workplace strategy for this event needs to be communicated to employees as early as possible, not least to avoid social tensions.

‍

Involving them in the thinking process is also a good exercise in collective intelligence. Many people have already anticipated the impact the Olympic Games will have on their daily lives - we know you've already thought about renting your apartment đź’¸

‍

Where is Charlie? Choose a tool to manage your coworking spaces

‍

To manage this temporary adaptation of your workplace strategy, you will of course need a tool for :

  • easily find and book coworking spaces;
  • know where your employees are working in real time;
  • centralize payment and billing.

‍

‍

You now have all the cards in your hand to conduct an in-depth reflection and propose to your employees an organization adapted to the 2024 Olympic Games. The aim of this approach? To turn this historic event into a fond memory, rather than a bitter, ironic anecdote recounted at September lunches once your premises have been reinstated.
