Coworking

What is it?

Coworking definition

How do coworking spaces meet the needs of employees and the challenges of companies? Find out!

Coworking : what is it about ?

Coworking is a shared work space outside the company. It is a place where professionals (employees, freelancers, associations...) rent a place to work. These spaces are often composed of an open space, which encourages collaboration, and closed rooms to promote concentration.

To meet the needs of all coworkers, coworking spaces are based on the principle ofactivity based working. They offer environments adapted to different professional situations.

What are the types of coworking spaces?

Classic" Coworking

These are shared spaces, mainly in open space, with meeting rooms and phoneboxes for isolation. Access to these spaces is by the hour, day or month.

Café-coworking

This collaborative work space offers, in addition to office rental, a catering service. The rate is based on the time spent in the coworking space or on the consumption.

Coworking hotels

These are workspaces for rent within a hotel, such as a single room or a conference room. New spaces dedicated to work are also appearing in some hotels, in the form of mini coworking spaces.

Coliving

Coliving is a hybrid space between the workplace and the living space. This mode of work favors meetings, sharing and entertainment. Rates are often fixed by the month.

Business Center

These spaces provide thecomplete equipment for all the employees of a company to carry out their missions (furnished offices, Wi-Fi, printers, videoconference equipment...).

Support structure

This structure is aimed at start-ups or scale-ups. They are generally incubators or business incubators that offer coaching services to help new businesses develop.

Coworking in a company

Also known as corpoworking, this concept consists in subletting internal workstations.

Hybrid spaces

Hybrid spaces offer a coworking part and a medium-term rental part where several companies share common areas (canteen, cafeteria...).

The advantages of coworking for companies and employees

Cost reduction

The coworking spaces offer a complete equipment and service to professionals (checkroom, internet connection, pastries, etc.).

The management of the subscription is more flexible : as the commitment periods are flexible, it is easier to cancel the contract than a classic 3 6 9 lease.

If the company wishes to keep its offices with a long term lease, it is also possible to reduce the working area and offer coworking spaces in a flexible way.

Creation of a community

Sharing is at the heart of coworking spaces: employees meet other workers outside the company and can develop their professional network. This is a great way to boost motivation and avoid the feeling of isolation that teleworkers may feel.

Favoring mixed spaces (association, senior club...) is an opportunity to meet very different people, from different sectors of activity.

Better work/life balance

For employees, finding a workspace close to personal locations (home, children's school, gym, train station...) reduces sources of stress. Moreover, they can manage their work schedules more easily by reducing their daily commuting time.

For all these reasons, coworking spaces are very popular with employees and are becoming increasingly popular.
